Dreams DO Come True!!

Believe in your dreams and they will come true. I always, always, always believed in it and I can testify that it works!!!
For years and years I dreamt of getting published, commercially. Four years back, after completing my Post Graduation in Business, I was offered a job in one of the leading newspaper houses in India. I felt the luckiest person on earth but when for the first time I set foot in my to-be-office premises, I got cold feet and in that moment of confusion, I was clear and convinced about one thing, this was not my dream. I was never so confident in my life about anything. I made the decision to leave the job (yes on a very first day itself) but I had no idea what I was going to do. I sat myself at home for couple of months and practically did nothing. Three months later, I woke up and decided that I was going to do what I always wanted to do but never thought that I was capable to do. I decided to write. I remember once telling to my classmates in school that one day I will be a writer and they laughed it off right there, right then. I had no idea how and from where this thought had come to my mind but I guess it always stayed there in some dark corner.
Six months passed and I finished writing my first full length novel. I sent it to every agent and publisher in the country and not so long after my mail box started flooding with rejection letters but in middle of all the rudely and sweetly written rejection letters I got two specific letters from really good publications and though they had turned down the manuscript, they loved my writing. It was very difficult for me to be brave about it but I managed to stay sane enough to make the decision that I was going to give it a another shot. Few weeks later I once again started writing, not a full length book but writing samples and started pitching them to newspapers and magazines. Never heard back from them but one day I struck lucky and with the little help from my friend I got the opportunity to write and edit a coffee-table book. I know it sounds exciting but trust me it was darn difficult. Non-fiction never held my interest and it was one big challenge to accept the offer but I was in no position to turn it down, I desperately wanted to write. Two years later I had four coffee-table books published but I was still craving for the commercial success. I took break from writing non-fiction and magazine articles and sat down to write a brand new, crispy and fluffy novel. I was excited and scared. It took me four months to finish it and once again I started to send out the proposals. Rejection letters started to come in. I paused there and then. I hold back myself from sending out any more proposals and got down to re-edit the book. During this re-edit phase I deleted 3/4th of the book. It sent me into “great depression”.
It took me 8 months to haul myself out of the dark pit and started writing again. I was half way through the book when I came across the Harlequin India’s announcement for Aspiring Writer Audition. I never won any competition in my life so I was very hesitant to participate and after much arguing and self doubt I sent my entry, just in time. Nearly a month later the result came out and I was nowhere in the winners list. I cried hard, really hard. BUT few days later my inbox pinged and announced the arrival of an email. It was from Harlequin India and though they had already announced the (general fiction) winner, they still wanted to see the rest of my manuscript. I didn’t know how to react so I sat down with my laptop and started to churn out the words. I had been given an opportunity of a lifetime and for me it was now and never.
After a month of mailing back and forth and editing, re-editing, I have been FINALLY offered a publishing contract. I had felt so depressed and failed for so long that it took me 36 hours to get my head around the news. Currently the book is going through its (hopefully) final edit and very soon would be published by Harlequin India in paperback as well as in digital format.

Break Free!!!

It has happened to me, way too often. Time and again people who were actually quite close to me had criticized me, from my choice of hair cut to career and they still do. Thankfully I am not the kind of a person who gets affected by anyone’s opinion or give up to the bullies but there are people whose lives are largely affected by such bullies around them. My message to them: It’s your bloody life and you are the queen of it. Make your own memories and mistakes. Dream the dream and live them. Pick your own path and walk on it in your sparkliest stilettoes. No one, absolutely no one has got any right to judge you and if you feel that they are being over criticizing about your views, ways of life, career choices, your ways of dealing situation then let me tell you darling they are simply jealous of you because they knew that they themselves are not capable of leading the life in a way you do. Here, they are the loser not you. You are different and you are precious. Retain your grace and ignore such awfully ignorant people. Don’t give your attention to them because all they deserve is pity! Always remember that “You are a diamond and they can’t break you”.

AND here is my message to those who make it their business to bully people and make their life hell: Being open-minded or fearless is the sign of how well brought up, knowledgeable, cultured and mannered that person is but sometimes such people are regarded as shameless, unacceptable and unethical by people like you who themselves are not gutted enough to live out of the box because of your century old orthodox believes and deep roasted criticizing behaviour! You are not the worst, but definitely one of the most dangerous species on the earth.

My advice to you is to get a life and for f*uck sake concentrate on making yourself better than picking faults in others.

THANK YOU
!

Why I Was MIA? READ HERE!!!

Hello guys! How have you been? I missed you people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First of all I would like to apologise for my disappearance, I am deeply sorry for it but trust me it wasn’t intended.

The last four months had been the strangest months of my life. Couple of month back one of my aunts died because of breast cancer and though I didn’t meet her in last five years and hadn’t had any sort of relationship with her but it was still shocking. Despite of the fact that we were not even close it took me 2 MONTHS to get over it. I was totally numb during the whole time and kept on asking myself that why the bloody hell it’s hurting me so bad. Anyway deaths do these kinds of things to me. Sometimes I even go in shock when I read something particularly sad in the newspaper and it takes me weeks to get back to my normal self. I don’t know what is the problem with me but I am currently working on it. Well that was the one reason but another one was a rather an unbelievably good one. Do you remember telling me you few months back that I was going to enter into Harlequin India’s new author search completion? Well I did send my entry albeit any hopes. You know I’ve never ever won any contests in my life and of course I didn’t win this one either (what the heck I was thinking! huh?). When I got to know that I didn’t win I went into really depressive mode and then suddenly one day a mail pinged in my mail box. It was from Harlequin India and it said that though I didn’t win but they would still like to read the rest of my book. REALLY???????????????????????? It took me one month to complete the manuscript before mailing it to them and then after couple of weeks one more mail arrived titled “Next Step” and it said that they LOVED it. They freaking LOVED it!!! Holy Shit!!!!!!!!! They asked me to do some revisions and told me to do it fast so that we could move along quickly with the process. Currently my revised and thoroughly edited manuscript is with them and I am waiting for their next mail or phone call!??

In the meanwhile I am keeping my fingers and everything else crossed!! Lol

P.S: Now I am back to the blog and the social sphere so feel free to come back here anytime for new book reviews, beauty posts, chit chat and gossip.

Valentine's Day Special (Strictly For Singles!!!)

Ok Ladies! So the day which you have been dreading for weeks has finally arrived. All of your BFFs are gushing over their valentine’s date and you are sulking behind the close doors of your room. Right? Well if the answer is yes than stop that sulking right NOW!
I know I know, it’s wonderful to have someone to shower you with gifts, flowers, romantic dinner. I personally know a lot of girls who make it their mission to find the date solely for the Valentine’s Eve and after the date they don’t even bother to call him. These girls don’t have loose morals, neither they are conniving bitches, they are just girls who don’t want to be alone on the day when literally everyone is strolling down the street, hand-in-hand, they just want to be the part of that happy-couple crowed, they don’t want to be left out. I am no one to judge if they are right or wrong in doing so. But I can speak for myself. I would never, ever want to be involved with someone, solely for the sake of a Valentine’s date. That is stooping too low for me but that’s only my point of view and you have every right to disagree with me.
I am a kind of girl who just can’t pretend that 14 Feb is just another Friday but I am also a girl who can’t spent a day with relatively stranger and the next day would feel “What heck I was thinking?”. So I have worked out the third way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. It’s a day of love and I want to feel loved. At the moment I am blissfully single and still I can think of thousand ways to make myself feel loved without even having a date. So if you are single too, then take clues from here and have a fabulous Valentine’s Day!!
Stay away from FB, Twitter: It’s the best way to stay away from all the mushy couples who are all set to post every move of their day on FB and Twitter with a sole purpose of flaunting their fabulous gifts and date on your face. Who needs to know if he has gifted you a g-string? You are definitely not going to post your picture wearing it later so what’s the point of twitting about it now? Puke!
Join a fun and fabulous fitness class for a day: To free yourself from any negativity, blues or sadness, hit the gym today! You can go to any good gym of your area and pay the daily charge. Attend a hip-hop, zumba or bollywood-hollywood dance class. Take my words, you will feel uh-mazing at the end of it.
Spend some money: Spend your money on yourself. Go to shopping and buy that really expensive perfume which you have been coveting for so long.
Trip to spa/beauty salon: Go for some luxurious massage at your nearby spa or if you are not a fan of it then gift yourself a professional mani-pedi. Beautifully painted nails can make anything better.
Rent a good movie or box-set: Rent a good movie or box-set of your favourite sitcom. This is sure to make your day much more bearable.
Have single girls night-in: Invite all of your single girlfriends at your place. Pop the bottle of bubbly, order take-away, wear your PJs, watch that movie or box-set you rented and raise toast to your singleness.
                                           OR
Alternative: If you don’t have any single friend then take a long bath, light some scented candles, put on a really good lip balm, order take away, put on the DVD and jump on the sofa. You are in for a treat!
All the single ladies out there make yourself feel loved and worthy and have a really fabulous Valentine’s Day!

How you spend your Sunday?

Hello Ladies, with only 5 days to the V-day I hope all of you are supper busy in digging out that one perfect dress from your closet for that one perfect dinner with that one Mr. Perfect and if you have failed to dig out a decent outfit for Valentine’s date than you should better run for shopping. Considering it’s Sunday today, it should not be difficult for you to spare an hour for yourself. So while you are busy in preparing for your special date I am safely tucked in my warm duvet with a cup of coffee and looking forward to spending my Sunday in doing the stuff which gives me immense pleasure, the sense of bliss and serenity.
My Sunday is usually about changing my bed linens, putting on a good face mask, reading “Wedding & Celebration” section of New York Time on my tab, devouring the four beautiful pages of Times Life, painting my nails, writing, lazying around with a book and eating Yummylicious snacks.
Just out of curiosity: How you spend your Sunday? (Of course! other than this particular Sunday!)

Brighten Up Your Dull Day

Hey lovelies, How are you doing girls? Well today I am having one those dull days when you feel like staying under the duvet all day long and even the smallest things like a loose strand of hair against your cheeks can irritate you like hell. The reason of me having a dull day? Ah! Well I am suffering from the sudden outburst of hives which has restricted my activity to my bed in loose fitting cloths because apparently hives can get worse when you workout, take hot baths or stress about any stuff. This has stopped me going to my fitness dance classes this week and it had made me depressed beyond the words. I mean dancing brings me joy, freedom and of course fitness, which god know I need more than anything else. Lol!
So to brighten up my dull day I have planned to do these small but amazing things and if you too are having a dull or a gloomy day then join me in the party.
To brighten  up your dull day, all the ingredients you need are:
A cup or preferably a pot of coffee
Really good book preferably chick-lit
Couple of magazines like Vogue, Harper's Bazaar or Glamour and if you can than buy Tatler
Few scented candles on your night stand. Try Bath and Body Works
And a pink nail polish. Maybelline New York's Colour Show range have some good ones. My favourite is coral one with the shade no. 211.

P.S: Don't forget to play some good music in the background while you get on with your brightening-up-the-day process. I love to listen 'Label or Love', 'Watch Me Shine' and  'I'm Woman' on such days!
Good Luck!

P.P.S: FYI if I feel better after all of it then I might forget about my hives and could go to my Zumba class in the evening and will thought about it consequences later. God knows I need this!
